USAIGC National- International Championships, June 25-July 1 2011, Indian Wells, CA

 

Vernon Lee achieved tremendous results in our debut performance at USAIGC Nationals in Palm Springs.   We took 21 girls and brought home first place as a Team for the Copper Level and Third for the Bronze Level.  Dahlia Castaneda, Mia Koga, and Chrystal Yen all won  first Place All-Around in their respective levels and we won 42 Total Medals (1st through 3rd Place).  15 of them were Gold, 20 were Silver, and 12 were Bronze. Here is a list of the Gold Medal Winners:

Dahlia Castaneda (Copper - BB/AA), Josselyn Robles (Copper - UB), Mia Koga (Copper - UB/BB/AA), Deja Torres (Bronze- VT/BB), Beanie Neal (Bronze - UB), Kathlyn Miller (Bronze - FX), Kate Hagerty (Silver - BB/FX), and Chrystal Yen (Gold - UB/FX/AA).

 

USAIGC State Championships, March 22, 2011, Culver City, CA

 

VLAGA did amazing at our first USAIGC State Championships. Six gymnasts won first-place All-Around in their level and age groups (Karina Ho- Copper; Mia Koga- Copper; Josselyn Robles- Copper; Sonia Castaneda-Copper; Kate Hagerty-Silver; Chrystal Yen-Gold).  We also had five gymnasts win second place All-around (Mandy Hall- Copper; Charlotte Scott- Copper; Deja Torres- Bronze; Kimiko Adler- Bronze; Kara Ellis- Bronze).  There were also a lot of first place finishers on the individual events and a number of career high scores.  The Copper Team took 2nd Place and the Bronze Team came in 3rd.  VLAGA also qualified 22 gymnasts for the National Championships to be held in Palm Springs at the end of June. Great Job girls, now on to Nationals.

We did amazing at our first USAIGC meet of the season. First place team in both Copper and Bronze, 8 first place All-Around Champions (Copper- Karina, Mandy, Josselyn, Sonia Bronze- Olivia, Kathlyn Silver- Kate Gold- Chrystal), and we qualified everyone to state that we took to the meet. Big Shout outs to Kate Hagerty for her 9.5 on Vault and MVP AA of 36.1, as well as Kimiko Adler's first place 9.3 on Floor, and Josselyn's 9.3 on Beam. We look forward to the next meet!

 

Southern California Levels 4,5,6 State Championships, Nov 12-14, 2010, Bakersfield

We qualified ten  athletes and won 8 medals at State! In Level 4 Age 7, Miranda Garcia placed 13AA out of 36 girls with 34.725, and Allyson Cervantes got 8th on Vault and her highest AA of 34.45 (15th). In Level 4, Age 8A, Deja Torres placed 7th on BB, and her highest AA of 35.375 (12th/22 girls). In Level 4 8B Jane Gallegos took home four medals including 5th on VT, 7th on UB, 9th on FX, and 7th AA out of 24 girls with 35.975. Also in this age group, Cameron Bielawa got her highest AA of 34.35 (17th). Anika Ash competed in the Level 4 9A Division and got her highest AA of 33.55. In the 12 yr old age group, Olivia Cwik got 4th on VT with a 9.375, 10th on BB, and 13th AA out of 33 girls with a 35.575. Our Level 5's and 6's also represented VLAGA well. Congratulations to Kathlyn Miller, Beanie Neal, and Syndey Pontius for their outstanding performances.


Level 4-6 Sectional Championships, October 23-24, 2010, Norco, California

Congratulations to all our compulsory gymnasts. VLAGA took home a total of 14 medals and qualified 10 gymnasts to State Championships in Bakersfield. Congratulations to Jane Gallegos who got first place on Level 4 Balance Beam and took home 4th place in All-Around in the 8 Yr Old Division. Miranda Garcia also finished 8th All-Around among Level 4 7 yr Olds.

 

Level 8-9 Regional Championships   April 18-19, 2009,  Sacramento Fair Grounds

Leana Aparicio (L8) placed 15th All-Around in her age group with a meet high score of 35.25.
Zoe Wilkens (L9) placed 9th All-Around and 5th place on floor with a season high 9.25.

 

Level 7 State Championships          April 25th-26th, 2009, Santa Clarita, CA

Kelsey Kolb, Kate Hagerty, and Kealia Hudson all bring in season high All-arounds with amazing performances.  Great Job to Kate on Balance Beam 9.375 for 5th place and to Kealia on Floor with a 9.45 which placed 4th!  DaVeena Mancha, Rachael Garner, and Anna Miyajima also qualified.

 

Vegas Vacation                                February 14, 2009,  Henderson, NV,  Levels 4-9

Congratulations to All-Around Champions Amber Montesanto (L5), and DaVeena Mancha (L7)! Both gymnasts competed flawlessly and received career high scores.  Our Level 7's deserve respect for their excellent floor routines that brought down the house! Keep it up!
